3D printing technology enhances design & prototyping

To further enhance our design and prototyping of workholding solutions, Brown and Holmes has invested in two 3D printers.

The two machines from Stratasys; Fortus 450 mc and the F170 use fused deposition modelling (FDM) to turn CAD models into durable parts. They can print in several different materials, including carbon fibre, polymers, acrylics, thermoplastics and polyurethane.

The 3D parts are ideal – and tough enough - to be used as advanced conceptual models, functional prototypes, manufacturing tools and production parts. They are already proving themselves, with accurate parts printed from GrabCAD which imports direct from the design team’s CAD files and reducing the lead times for our prototype services.
